Late Availabilty Prices:
Barn Cottage (slps 2): 7n £460, 3nights £368 – an upside down house. Open plan living area upstairs and bedroom and shower room below. Beds are zip-linked giving option of super-king double or single beds.
Stable Cottage (slps 4): 7n £588 or 3n £471 – spacious open-plan living area with full length windows making the most of the view over Loch Awe. Spiral staircase to bedrooms, both with zip-linked double (super-king) or single bed options, and shower room. Feeder for red squirrels close-by.
Barr-beithe Lower (slps up to 5): 7n £612 or 3n £490 – enjoys a lovely view over the bay and along Loch Awe from the cosy sunroom, patio and master bedroom. Easy to live in cottage with open-plan dining area, lounge and sunroom. 3 bedrooms (double, twin/zip-linked super-king, single). Separate shower room and bathroom.
Barr-beithe Upper (slps 6): 7n £652, 3n £554 – a large kitchen/dining area looking over a hill park, a cosy sunroom, lounge master bedroom and garden enjoying the views of Loch Awe all in a lovely garden of heathers and azaleas. 3 bedrooms (King-sized double, twin/super-king double and a twin room), lounge, sunroom, bathroom and shower rooms.
Blarghour is a good base to explore Argyll. Visit Oban and its distillery, a wander round Inveraray the castle and jail, a walk along Crinan Canal and historic Kilmartin Glen, the Nature Scot nature reserve on Moine Mhor or visit the beavers in the Heart of Argyll . Enjoy a drive through scenic Glenorchy, across the wilderness of Ranoch Moor and through Glencoe or take a ferry from Oban to Mull, Iona and Fingal’s Cave or a wildlife tour with Turus mara to Fingal’s Cave and the puffins on the Treshnish Isles.
Kintail Birds of Prey in the village of Eredine is just 5 miles from Blarghour offers excellent 1hr, 1.5hr and 2hr Falconry Experiences which many of our guests enjoy.
Oban Sea Kayaks offer half day and full day sea kayak trips launched from the beach in Oban. Beginners are welcome. Recommended by our guests.
Skipness Seafood Cabin open 11am to 4pm for seafood and lovely homemade cake overlooking the island of Arran and Skipness Castle – no pre-booking required.
Crinan Canal – good for a walk especially from Crinan Basin. The Crinan Coffee Shop serves light lunches, tea/coffee and lovely homemade cake 10am to 5pm, March to Oct.
Lots of castles and gardens to visit. For walking routes around Arygll the Walk Highlands website is hard to beat.
Cakes in the Call Box on the single track road to/from Blarghour difficult to pass, the cakes are delicious – filled with cakes Friday to Sunday
Oban for a wander round the shops, Oban Distillery tours, a walk to McCaig’s Tower , Dunollie Castle and cafe watch the Calmac ferries come and go and enjoy takeaway fish & chips over looking Oban Bay.
Inveraray is nice for a walk around this pretty town with a good choice of shops, cafes and hotel restaurants for bar meals plus Inveraray Castle and old Jail both open 10am to 5pm.
Historic Kilmartin Glen – take a walk round the standing stones and ‘rock art’ (cup and ring marks on the rocks), Carnasserie Castle and Dunadd Hill Fort
Nature Scotland’s National Nature Reserve on Moine Mhor.
Visit the beavers in the Heart of Argyll .
