Enjoys a lovely view over the bay and along Loch Awe from the cosy sunroom, patio and master bedroom. Easy to live in cottage with open-plan dining area, lounge and sunroom. 3 bedrooms (double, twin/zip-linked super-king, single). Separate shower room and bathroom.

Barr-beithe Upper (slps 6): 7 nights £652 (reduced from £815) and 3 nights £555 

A large kitchen/dining area looking over a hill park, a cosy sunroom, lounge master bedroom and garden enjoying the views of Loch Awe all in a lovely garden of heathers and azaleas. 3 bedrooms (King-sized double, twin/super-king double and a twin room), lounge, sunroom, bathroom and shower rooms.

February & March Ideas

Here along the lochside:

Kintail Birds of Prey   – very popular and just 4 miles from Blarghour

In the village of Lochawe you will find St Conan’s Kirk, you can walk up to Cruachan Dam and enjoy a stop at the Ben Cruachan Inn for lunch (fri – sun noon to 2pm) or dinner (everyday 5.30pm to 8pm).  A couple of miles outside Lochawe you’ll find the Cruachan Visitor Centre – the cafe/visitor centre is open and over February they ask you to ring 01866962630 to check tour dates/times.

Inveraray is a good place to visit for a wander round the town or maybe a climb up to Dun a Cuaich lookout tower.  The old jail is open 10am to 5pm and there are good choices for lunch, snacks and dinner.

If you head the other direction from Blarghour this takes you to mid-Argyll.  Carnasserie Castle is always open, the standing stones and cup and ring markings along Kilmartin Glen are a nice walk as is Crinan Canal – stretches of the canal have been emptied for inspection/repair this winter.  Kilmartin Hoteln Cairnbaan Hotel and Tavallich Inn are good choices for eating.

Oban – you will probably be drawn towards a day in Oban. Shops, good choices for eating in or get your takeaway fish & chips and head for Ganavan Sands.

The birds are singing, the daffodils are out, the sun is shining and it is 12oC by Loch Awe.  The spring energy in the air is just lovely.
